As a digital government entusiast and techonology feminist I have followed and tested blockchain with an increasing interest from the early days. When I first was introduced to the concept and the idea more than 15 years ago, it was related to the models for value-networks (more reading: (https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/387b/488dfe879a3cf4e29e51748120d6b3135d40.pdf)
I am a true believer in the value-networks by Clayton Christensen and Øystein Fjeldstad, as the map for our business models driven by technology. In reasont years, for me they have changed the names to platforms, but the value-network is in the core of the platform. If you start investigating the models in the platform, you often find a good understanding of a network driven economy.
But the valuenetwork has missed the efficent way for the financial transaction. Here I find block-chain as beeing a facinating option. We have seen the sunrise of blockchain in the food-industry. In a complicated industry, with unbalanced power structure, environment entusiast see blockchain as a mean to have the right information at the fingertip of the consumer (more reading: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/8373021).
Could this also be the case for a healthier public sector? The sector has a perfect balance sheet, with a steep growth in dept to keep up with the expectations of the citizen. The cost of these loans are only sustainable with an anual growth in GDPR above 3%. This 3% is in collision with the ambition of a sustainable world. It might seem like a very wicked problem, and it is. But should we in the public sector investigate the options for blockchain in partnership with a valuenetwork? I am trilled by the the thought, how about you?
